Hospitals & Medical Practices Market American Heart Month

January 26th, 2017 by

American Heart month is each February. Hospitals and medical practices should plan their marketing strategy to align with this special month. This way they can offer their patients and prospective patients information about heart disease and show how their practice plays a role.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States. Every year, 1 in 4 deaths are caused by heart disease. The statistics are ugly. Heart disease is a killer.

February is American Heart Month.

This is a great opportunity for hospitals, clinics and medical practices to highlight this month in their community outreach mailings by spreading the word about strategies for preventing heart disease and encouraging people to live heart healthy lives.

It’s all about awareness.

Heart disease kills an estimated 630,000 Americans each year. It’s the leading cause of death for both men and women. In the United States, the most common type of heart disease is coronary artery disease (CAD), which can lead to a heart attack. You can greatly reduce your risk for CAD through lifestyle changes and, in some cases, medication.

I am always telling my clients to take advantage of the opportunity to be part of something bigger than themselves. In terms of allying with American Heart Month, this gives a hospital or medical practice credibility, a focus for the month’s marketing efforts and lots of resources to use at no cost.

Medical practices can get lots of ideas from the American Heart Association website.    These are thing they can share with patients and members of their community. Some of the options include heart-healthy recipes to share, sample PR announcements, tweets, artwork and even a badge that can be added to a website.

Marketers always need to use whatever they can to enrich their brand. Hospitals, clinics and medical practices that affiliate with American Heart Month are doing just that.

BTW – In 20201, remember to wear RED on February 5rd!
